Find out all you need to know about Ipswich Round Table

At Ipswich Round Table, we meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at a range of locations around Ipswich (attendance to all meetings during the year isn’t compulsory). The group itself is very relaxed and follows a simple format for each meeting. These meetings will be either a social, dinner or business meeting. When there is a 5th Monday in the month we often arrange a couples’ event where members and their partners are actively encouraged to attend. For more information about Ipswich Round Table’s 3 events styles see below.

Social Events

Social meetings are the widest category of meeting we have and as the name implies this is a chance for us to do events that are not common for most of us to do. We have done a huge range of things from the usual beers and curry nights, shooting, quiz’s and poker nights through to the less common rowing, softball in the park, trips overseas, fencing lessons and even flower arranging and self defence – it really is a wide agenda set by us for us. Best of all our social committee members arrange it, all you have to do is turn up!

Business Meetings

For a business meeting we meet at a variety of locations to discuss the direction the group is taking (everyone has a say), what charitable requests we have had (either for funds or assistance). All these are key points to Round Table but also we look at wider related topics and discuss how best to shape Round Table’s future going forward. This is normally done once a quarter and over some light refreshments or an evening meal. Best of all we get to experience some of the finest places to eat in Ipswich and have a great evening whilst doing something good for our own community. Dinner Meetings

A dinner meeting is a common occurrence where we will meet and enjoy a more ‘formal’ dinner. These are held at a mix of local restaurants. They enable us to relax, unwind and talk about all the things life tends to throw up. We often touch on some points raised on previous Business Meetings, but in essence it’s a great laugh over food and drink with a lot of banter. We have had speakers from around the community, ex members of Round Table who have retired and all in all it is a great atmosphere.

We have some themed dinner meetings also throughout the years.  We celebrate Burns Night, Trafalgar Night being one of the main ones, we also celebrate Chinese New Year and also do a Medieval themed event.  To see some of our past dinner meetings please click here.

What Does Round Table Cost?

Well given the range of the events we do the monthly commitment is very modest. Each member pays £30 per month by standing order and this covers the cost of affiliation fees to the international Round Table and the cost of most meals and most events. Beer money is always extra but worthwhile.

Alex Leader (Ipswich Chairman 2013/14) said:

‘I joined Round Table to become part of a group that was fun, not scared to try something new or push themselves to new limits, whilst putting something back into the community.

I could not have hoped for a more welcoming group of guys to become a part of.

I knew it was the group for me from the very first event I attended, that was over six years ago.’
